Chia seeds are the seeds in the flowers of the chiaplant. During 5 months these seeds develop until they are fully grown and have reached their full nutritional value. Then they are mechanically harvested and cleaned.
Chia seeds contain large amounts of omega 3 (18.6%) and omega 6 (6.8%) in ideal proportions. They are also full of fiber (37.9%).
Because of their neutral taste chia seeds are versatile in use. Moreover, they make you feel full for longer. Sprinkle some chia seeds in your muesli, oatmeal, yoghurt, smoothie or salad. Chia seeds also gives a nice crispy touch to bread dough. Use 5% of the amount of flour (25g per 500g flour).
