  • air fryer

  • 2 or 3 Turnips (or 1 precut package of 400gr turnip fries)
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Chili Powder

  • Peel the turnips and cut them into 1/4 inch (6mm) thick fries. Place in a gallon size storage bag.
  • Warm up your air fryer (400°F / 180° C) by running it for a couple of minutes while we prepare the spice mix.
  • Add the oil to the bag and move the fries around in the bag until all are coated in the oil.
  • Mix the spices together in a small bowl. Then sprinkle over the fries in the bag. Move the fries around to coat evenly with the spices.
  • Add half of the turnip fries to the basket and space them apart so the air can flow around them. If you pack them too crowded they will not turn crisp.
I have a Ninja Foodi max and I was able to add all my fries in the basket.
  • Set your air-fryer to (400°F / 180° C) for 7 minutes.
  • Shake the basket (attention, very hot!) and repeat for another 7 minutes.
  • When they are slightly brown, serve the fries as a side dish or a snack.

These turnip fries are an excellent replacement for French fries when following a low-carb or Pronokal/MenuProt diët. Not only do the turnip contains fewer carbs, using the air fryer does not add extra calories to your meal.
